Villa Amala in Ubud, Bali
The enchanting beauty of Amala is gleaming brightly on a piece of 2400 sq meters land by the edge of a valley overlooking the river well-known by the name of Wos. The magnificent Amala appears even more glowing being surrounded by lush green carpet of rice paddies in a small village called Keliki, Tegalalang.
The word “Amala” is adopted from Sanskrit that means “purity”. During your stay at Amala, you will discover this purity in the surrounding landscape and way of life that surrounds the Villa. The charm of the paddy fields of Keliki is mesmerizing; and the soft murmur of the river Wos in the valley below calming. To top all this, the enchanting sunsets across the horizon of Ubud are unforgettable.
With five ensuite guestrooms, it can accommodate up to 10 people comfortably. Made up of two houses connected by a walkway, the main house overlooks the 20m pool and Padi fields, while the valley house sits on the edge of a ridge which overlooks the lush valley of the river Wos.
With beautiful views of quaint paddy fields, the main house has an open dining pavilion with a large daybed overlooking a 20m-long pool, as well as a kitchen, library and powder room. The master bedroom on the second floor leads out to a spacious veranda with daybeds on either end, and is one of two rooms on the property with an exposed Alang Alang roof. Its luxurious bathroom contains a bathtub with a shower and an outdoor shower on the terrace.
The valley house has an open living area on the top floor with an immense Alang Alang roof and wide verandas for al fresco dining. Below this are two guest rooms connected by a single veranda overlooking the tranquil River Wos; both are en suite with partial outdoor showers and baths. On the ground level is a second master bedroom with an indoor bath and shower overlooking the lush tropical valley as well as an outdoor shower in its own private garden. For all your entertainment needs, there is a TV room with a projector to screen movies or satellite TV. This room can also be converted into another en suite guest room and shares a veranda with the master bedroom. Guests can stroll around the garden, have breakfast with the sun rising over the valley or take in the beauty of the rice terraces from a bale that sits at the edge of the garden.
Amala’s chefs are skilled at both local and western cuisines and are capable of tailoring the menu to suit specific preferences and dietary constraints. Produce for meals are bought on the day itself and guests need only pay for the cost of these ingredients.
If you would rather dine out in the town, Ubud has a wide selection of notable restaurants just 15 minutes away from the villa. Recommendations include the award-winning and innovative menus at Mozaic, international selections at Sari Organik’s healthy and delicious organic fare, as well as Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka and Naughty Nuri’s.
